Perfectly located on the square of historic downtown McKinney, Texas is our family owned winery. Our goal is to run a fun, family business crafting award-winning Texas wines. All of our wines are crafted on-site in our winery in downtown McKinney. We have produced many internationally recognized award winning wines. We source our grapes from multiple Texas vineyards and even
some from outside of Texas.

Our winemaking experience goes back to 1989 as Bob tried his hand at making wine in the
basement of their Dutch Colonial home in Kansas City, Missouri. Fifteen years later in 2004 they started their winery business in Texas. We’ve come a long way since the basement winemaking experiments in small batches to now with our stainless steel tanks, American and French oak
barrels to be one of the largest wineries in Texas. Bob has earned over fifteen medals for his wines,
all of which were received from International wine competitions.

Bob is the head winemaker and will gladly show off the winery and give you a tour and sampling
of the some of the wines on which he is currently working.

A country winery in the Piney Woods of East Texas
specializing in Muscadine and Fruit Wines

Dr. Manuel Guerra, a local physician and his wife Rosemary have dedicated their
lives caring for people in the community. Rosemary was raised on a farm in Iowa and has
always enjoyed working with the land and nature. Continuing their desire for living a
healthy lifestyle, they planted a Muscadine vineyard in 1994.  Initially the production was
used for making juice,  but has since been used to make jellies, syrup and wine. Once the
yield from the vineyard became so immense the idea of a country winery emerged.
Rosemary’s daughter Ann and son-in-law Mark and their  three boys joined her in this
venture. They are all proud to supply you with the fruits of their labors.

The Little House That Could

After two years of teaching Sociology at the University of Manitoba in Canada, Bruce was happy to accept a teaching position at The [warm] University of Texas at Arlington in 1973. We purchased the house that has become our winery then, and moved in with our three young daughters, Britt, Belinda and Bodil. It was just about the time that The Little House on the Prairie series came on TV. And we all loved it and pretended our house was the little house on the prairie.

In 1989 Bodil our youngest daughter was killed in a car/train accident. It made the house feel very empty and sad. And in 1993 we moved to Ft. Worth. In the meantime Daughter Belinda and her family bought this house with one of the acres.

While on a business trip to San Francisco, we visited Napa Valley and fell in love with the beauty of the vineyards. On the way back to Texas we decided to start growing grapes on the Burleson acre that we still owned. And that is how it all started.

Soon we learned that we could attend courses on how to grow grapes and how to make wine at Grayson County Community College. We have taken all their courses and our interests kept growing. We also took many seminars offered under the auspices of the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association and other organizations.

We talked daughter Belinda and son-in-law Roland into selling the house back to us for conversion into a winery. Getting all the permits and bonds a very slow process we finally could open our doors to our tasting room Oct. 13 2005.

We make handcrafted high quality wine with the help of our consulting winemaker Mike Sipowicz (a young man we have known since he grew up in Burleson). He has wonderful credentials in the wine industry having been Cellar Master at Krug Winery and later Associate Winemaker at Merrivale Winery both in Napa. Now he and his lovely family have moved back to Texas and have a vineyard near Lubbock. We are indeed blessed to have him and his expertise with us.

Three Dudes Winery gets its name from the Three Dudes that built it. The tasting  room and production facility were designed and constructed by the three owners, Ron Pontiff,
Jeff Felderhoff and Terry Alford. Overlooking the crystal clear waters of the San MarcosRiver, Three Dudes Winery offers a great place to experience
the finest of Texas wines in a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere.

This isn’t your typical winery as suggested by the name itself. Three Dudes’ appeal is its non-traditional approach to making and enjoying great tasting wines. Our wines are produced from Texas grown grapes and juice; grapes that are carefully selected from the best vineyards to be found throughout this great State.

Come visit if only for a moment to share a glass with us. You might just stay a while longer to enjoy Three Dudes wine and a romantic Texas sunset with that special someone alongside the majestic San MarcosRiver.  Fun and friendship is our goal, but wine is our passion.
